"See You lot Again" is a vocal by American rapper and singer Wiz Khalifa, featuring American singer-songwriter Charlie Puth. It was commissioned for the soundtrack of the 2015 flick Furious vii equally a tribute to actor Paul Walker, who died in a single-vehicle blow on November 30, 2013. Later on, the vocal was included as a bonus rail on the international release of Puth's debut anthology, 9 Rails Mind. The music video was the most viewed video on YouTube from July x to August 4, 2017. "See You Over again" received three nominations at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards: Song of the Year, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and All-time Song Written for Visual Media. It was also shortlisted for the Song of the Year for the BBC Music Awards and was nominated for Best Original Vocal at the 73rd Gilt Globe Awards.[3] "See You Again" was the best selling-song of 2015 worldwide, with combined sales and track-equivalent streams of xx.9 million units co-ordinate to IFPI.[iv]
Writing and development [edit]
"Encounter You lot Once again" was written past DJ Frank Eastward, Charlie Puth, Wiz Khalifa, and Andrew Cedar. It was produced by DJ Frank E, Charlie Puth, and Andrew Cedar.[5] Frank E and Puth were approached by their publishing company, Artist Publishing Group, to develop a melody that could pay tribute to thespian Paul Walker for the film Furious vii (2015). His publishing company's president Ben Maddahi then set up a starting time-time studio session for Puth with DJ Frank Eastward at a studio in Los Angeles.[6]
Puth became emotionally attached while writing the rails, recalling Vail Cerullo, a friend of Puth'southward fourth dimension at Berklee College of Music, who died in a motorcycle blow in 2012.[7] [8] He was at first reluctant that the film's soundtrack label, Atlantic Records, would cull his song for the song. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Puth recalled, "Information technology just seemed to occur from out of nowhere. Its climb into the top ten was the chart'southward biggest since Katy Perry'southward "Roar" (2013).[17] In its fifth week, "See You Again" sold 464,000 copies and rose from number ten to number ane on the Billboard Hot 100. The song marked Khalifa'southward second number one on the chart, following "Black and Yellow" (2011), and Puth's starting time.[eighteen] It topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 12 not-consecutive weeks. Information technology sold 193,000 units that week, becoming the fastest-selling single in the U.k. of 2015. In New Zealand, "See You Over again" debuted at number 34 on the New Zealand Singles Nautical chart dated March 30, 2015.[31] It topped the nautical chart in its 3rd calendar week, condign Khalifa and Puth's first number one single in the country.[32] In Australia, "See You Again" rose from number 59 to number one on the Australian Singles Nautical chart issued for April 11, 2015, mark Khalifa and Puth's first number one hit on the nautical chart. The song's climb to number ane was the largest in Australian Singles Chart history.[33]

The "See You Over again" music video was the near viewed video on YouTube from July 10 to Baronial 4, 2017,[35] [36] and the almost liked video on the site from August 27, 2016, to July 25, 2017. As of Apr 17, 2022, it has received over 5.4 billion views and over 37.7 one thousand thousand likes, making it the site's 5th most viewed and second most liked video.[37] [38] It was the second video e'er to tape 2 billion[39] and 3 billion views,[40] the third video ever to reach four billion views[41] and the fourth video ever to reach 5 billion views.[42]
Synopsis [edit]
The video begins with a shot of a cliff peak at sunset, followed by Khalifa walking down a highway route. Puth is and then shown singing the chorus whilst sitting at, and playing, a pianoforte located betwixt two cars. Khalifa'south rap verses and Puth singing the second chorus and bridge are interspersed with footage from Furious seven. Later on the bridge, the final moving-picture show scene shows Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel fuel) and Brian O'Conner (Cody Walker, filling in for his blood brother, Paul) driving together, pulled over in their cars and smiling at each other one last fourth dimension earlier driving away on separate roads into the dusk. Later the camera pans up into the sky, the screen turns white, the words "For Paul" appear on screen and the video ends.

The video was the most viewed video on YouTube from July ten, 2017, when it surpassed "Gangnam Style" by Psy,[43] to August 4 of that year, when it was surpassed by "Despacito" by Luis Fonsi featuring Daddy Yankee.[36]
The video was nominated for Best Hip-Hop Video and All-time Collaboration at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards, but lost both.[44] On August 27, 2016, the music video surpassed "Gangnam Way" as YouTube's nigh liked video of all time, after "Gangnam Style" held the tape for almost 4 years. Also, on February 19, 2017, the music video succeeded "Gangnam Style" as the nigh rated YouTube video of all time with over 13.8 one thousand thousand total ratings. Wiz Khalifa too performed the song at the 2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards. On January 31, 2020, Khalifa and Puth also performed "Meet Y'all Once more" live during halftime of a Portland Trail Blazers-Los Angeles Lakers game at the Staples Center in Los Angeles as a tribute to Kobe Bryant, his girl Gianna and seven other victims of the Calabasas helicopter crash.[49]
